Our buddy Sam led us in a fantastic discussion of The LOVE passage:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
We all concluded that it was impossible to love this way unless Christ lived in our hearts and gave us that supernatural love! We also were asked by bro Sam, "In the past month, what did someone do for you that touched your heart?" I tried hard but couldn't think of an answer!
One new mom commented that she felt touched, encouraged and loved by other moms in the fellowship. Another mom was touched that her hubby recently cooked her a meal after waiting 10 years! One dad (Mr. E) became our 'Exemplary Hubby of the Year' and got a standing ovation when his wife recounted how he would wash the dishes, prepare breakfast, bring the kid to school, supervise homework, and vacuum the floor daily to show his love for her! Many moms were envious and decided they would send their hubbies to Mr. E's house for "residency"!
When we display love, we sometimes need to do something we don't feel like doing, don't want to do, or are terribly uncomfortable doing!
We had a wonderful discussion, and at 11:15pm, our family went home, opened the front door, and found a big, loud intruder in our family room! I told hubby I can take care of it, but he insisted that he would do the honor and protect our family! And despite his extreme apprehension to creepy crawlies (Shhh....that's our secret), he stepped up to the plate and took it like it man!
After a long, hard battle with the intruder, hubby laughed heartily and relished his victory. I then remember tonight's question: What did someone do for you that touched your heart? That's IT!! Through sacrifice of one's comfort & facing one's fear, is how someone shows his love!
Sometimes love sucks the energy, health, patience, time, and comfort right out of us! Christ suffered the comfort of being with the Father and came down to the world, suffering shame and pain and ultimately sacificing His life ~ to show how much He adores us!
Happy Autumn everyone! God loves you very much! Thanks for your wonderful sharing and may the Lord continue to help us overfill with love for one another, whether we are in our lovable moments or not.
